Mrs Promise Aloba, the mother of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has shared a poignant revelation about her son’s fear of potential kidnapping, shedding light on his reluctance to have her reside in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, where he had rented an apartment and intended to establish a business for her.
In a heartfelt account of her last moments with Mohbad, Mrs Aloba disclosed the distressing circumstances that prompted her son and his wife to urge her to stay with them, driven by the trauma he was experiencing.
Mohbad’s untimely demise occurred approximately two weeks ago, and controversy has shrouded the circumstances surrounding his death. This controversy ultimately led to the exhumation of his remains by relevant authorities.
Addressing a group of journalists at the singer’s residence, Mrs Aloba revealed, “I don’t usually disclose that I’m Mohbad’s mother because he was apprehensive about my safety, fearing that I might be kidnapped.”
She recounted how Mohbad had relocated her from Iyana to Ikorodu, assuring her of establishing a business. However, her anxiety about staying in Ikorodu prompted her to request that the shop be rented out.
“My child never truly enjoyed his moments,” Mrs Aloba continued, “he was always anxious whenever I visited. He struggled to sleep and would often breathe heavily. They would even report such incidents to the police.”
She further shared the poignant details of her recent visit, saying, “I spent ten days in his house without knowing he would pass away. I had just left on a Saturday, oblivious to the fact that he would pass away on Monday. He pleaded with me not to leave, but I insisted he should go to church. Both he and his wife tried to convince me to stay. He hadn’t even provided me with my daily allowance because he didn’t want me to depart.”
The revelations from Mohbad’s mother provide a glimpse into the personal struggles and concerns of the late singer and the difficult decisions he and his family had to make amidst ongoing controversies surrounding his passing.
