Victor Osimhen’s stellar performance earned him the coveted Man of the Match title in Napoli’s hard-fought victory against SC Braga on Wednesday night.
Napoli kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign for the season with a tenacious 2-1 triumph at the Estadio Municipal de Braga.
The scoring began with Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s goal for Napoli just before halftime, while Braga’s Bruma managed to level the score four minutes from the end.
In a dramatic turn of events, Napoli secured the victory late in the game due to an own goal.
Despite not finding the net himself during the match, Osimhen’s remarkable performance did not go unnoticed, catching the attention of the UEFA Technical Observer Panel.
“His speed and power, coupled with his extreme danger in the penalty area and brilliant play with his back to the goal,” UEFA wrote on their official website in praise of Osimhen.
It’s noteworthy that Osimhen has yet to score a goal in his last three appearances across all competitions for Napoli.
