Senate President Godswill Akpabio has dismissed recent claims of an impeachment conspiracy against him, attributing them to individuals he characterizes as “purveyors of political smear campaigns.” Akpabio contends that these reports, which were featured in several newspapers over the weekend, seem to be part of a coordinated media assault originating from outside the National Assembly. He argues that those behind these allegations have a limited understanding of legislative proceedings.
In an official statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio emphasized that the Senators remain committed to their duties and will not be swayed by unfounded insinuations.
“Senators are presently concluding their holidays in their constituencies and other places they have chosen to spend their time after the rigors of the inauguration and ministerial screening and other constructive engagements.
“We call on the media not to give in to the conspiratorial tales and not to give damage to the reputations that they have built over time,” he said.
