In an impressive display of skill and determination, Tonye Solomon, a Nigerian man, has officially secured a Guinness World Record for the “most steps climbed on a ladder while balancing a football on the head.” The announcement came from Guinness World Records (GWR) on their website, revealing that Solomon accomplished this remarkable feat in Bayelsa State back in August.
Solomon’s record-breaking endeavor involved ascending a staggering 150 steps to reach the summit of a towering 250-foot (76-meter) radio mast, all while expertly maintaining control of the football balanced atop his head.
Before achieving this astounding feat, Tonye Solomon had already captured attention by embarking on a 60-kilometer (37-mile) journey from Amassoma to Yenagoa in Bayelsa State, traversing the distance with a football perched on his head. Despite initial skepticism from onlookers, Solomon’s determination and skills were undeniable.
GWR shared the backstory, stating, “After Tonye Solomon walked 60 km (37 mi) with a football on his head from Amassoma to Yenagoa in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, many of his compatriots doubted the authenticity of his story. So, to prove them wrong, Tonye decided to demonstrate his skills by setting a Guinness World Record title for the most steps climbed on a ladder while balancing a football on his head. He successfully achieved the dizzying feat last month by climbing 150 steps to the top of a 250-foot (76-meter) tall radio mast while expertly keeping control of the ball atop his head.”
Tonye Solomon expressed his motivation for setting this record, explaining that he aimed to challenge himself and inspire others to pursue greatness. He devoted two months to rigorous training, dedicating all his free time to practice until he was confident of success. During the actual record attempt, Solomon appeared unfazed by the daunting ascent, completing the climb in a mere 12 and a half minutes.
Upon conquering all 150 steps and accomplishing the record, Solomon jubilantly threw the football down and celebrated with a triumphant fist pump. He graciously acknowledged the Nigerian Civil Defense Bayelsa State Command for granting him access to their facility for the event.
Guinness World Records also disclosed that Tonye Solomon is affiliated with the Chukwuebuka Freestyle Academy, overseen by Chukwuebuka Ezugha. This academy has consistently produced exceptional talents, including Kid Eche, Vincent Okezie, Victor Richard Kipo, and Confidence Kipo, who have achieved their own record-breaking feats.
