According to a report, Yusuf Anas, a former police officer who was fired from the Nigeria Police Force, was arrested in Ondo State by diligent police detectives. He is facing accusations of theft and impersonation.
According to sources, Anas initially joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Constable back in 2016, where he served in Sokoto and Lagos. However, he was later declared a deserter and subsequently dismissed from the force.
It came to light that despite his dismissal, Anas continued to pose as a law enforcement officer. On a fateful day, he entered a mobile phone store in Ondo State and, still dressed in a police uniform, made a purchase amounting to N102,000. After taking possession of the phone, he allegedly proceeded to generate a fraudulent bank transfer to the unsuspecting seller. This incident reportedly occurred on May 8 of the current year.
The heinous act did not go unnoticed, as a concerned party filed a petition with the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 17. Acting on this information, the police swiftly took action and apprehended the suspect through meticulous intelligence gathering.
Akeem Adeoye, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 17 Akure, confirmed the arrest and stated, ” the suspect, in the course of interrogation, confessed to have committed the crime. He will be charged to court and prosecuted accordingly.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding the integrity of law enforcement agencies and swiftly bringing those who tarnish their reputation to justice. Anas is now set to face the legal consequences of his actions.
