Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki conveyed his contentment with the conduct of the local government elections in the state on Saturday. Governor Obaseki expressed his sentiments shortly after casting his vote at Ward 10, Unit 19 polling station, around 1.50 p.m.
Despite the inclement weather, Governor Obaseki found the voter turnout to be notably engaging. He commended the political parties for effectively sensitizing the electorate and noted the overall peacefulness of the process. “I am very pleased with this,” he remarked. “People arrived at the polling stations minutes before the close of the polls, and we have not witnessed any incidents of violence from any quarter.”
When questioned about his expectations for the election’s outcome, Governor Obaseki expressed confidence that the most popular candidates would emerge victorious. He acknowledged the robust campaign efforts of the PDP and pointed out that while he was unsure about the mobilization efforts of other parties, the PDP had a strong presence in most parts of the state.
