In a recent statement at the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference, Defence Minister Alhaji Mohammed Badaru emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing national security through the modernization of military equipment. The Minister, represented by Dr Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, highlighted that this investment aims to ensure the safety of both citizens and foreigners.
The conference’s theme, “Crafting a Strategic Blueprint for Security and Prosperity,” served as the backdrop for Badaru’s message. He underlined that alongside military modernization, the government is also focusing on the blue economy, climate change, and unmanned technologies. The Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Nigeria, he noted, are charged with maintaining peace and stability not only within the familiar black and brown waters but also extending into the expansive blue water regions.
Badaru remarked, “The government is dedicating significant resources to initiatives like the ‘Falcon Eye’ and the deep blue project to tackle insecurity, covering not only the Niger Delta but the entirety of Nigeria’s coastal areas.” This move signifies the government’s dedication to fostering security and prosperity across various domains.
