In a recent statement, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, addressed rumors about the potential impeachment of Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, the State Deputy Governor. Agbebaku clarified that there is no intention to impeach the Deputy Governor and urged the people of Edo to disregard such speculation.
During a visit to the Government House in Benin City, Agbebaku stated, “I want to emphasize that there is no validity to the claims of an impeachment process against the Deputy Governor. These rumors hold no truth within the State Assembly.”
Agbebaku recounted his conversation with the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, where he conveyed the absence of impeachment plans. He asserted, “I reached out to the Deputy Governor to assure him that these allegations are baseless and unfounded.”
Governor Obaseki echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to continued development in the State. He underscored the need for positive news coverage: “Our focus should be on the progress we are achieving in Edo, not on fabricated crises. We must address issues such as the deteriorating State of federal roads that hinder our mobility.”
As Edo strives for growth, unity, and advancement, the Speaker and members of the Assembly reiterate their dedication to supporting the Governor’s vision. Together, they aim to surmount challenges and ensure a better life for all Edo citizens.
