Commending the remarkable performance of the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFA has lauded the team’s efforts during the tournament.
Exiting the competition at the Round of 16 phase, the Super Falcons showcased their prowess on the field. In a tense match against European champions England, Randy Waldrum’s squad narrowly lost 4-2 in the penalty shootout.
The gripping encounter ended in a 0-0 deadlock after an electrifying 120 minutes of play. Notably, the team, who are nine-time African champions, managed to hold the Olympic champions Canada to a goalless draw and secured a victory against co-hosts Australia during the group stage.
“NGA left their mark on #FIFAWWC 2023,” reads a tweet on FIFA’s official Twitter handle.
As the competition advances, England and Spain are poised to clash in the final showdown scheduled for this Sunday.
