Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has officially unveiled the upgraded Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital in Kofar Kudu, Kano Municipal Local Government Area. The hospital, which boasts an expanded capacity of 86 beds, had previously been shut down and sold off by the prior administration. However, Governor Yusuf reversed this decision upon taking office.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the healthcare sector to safeguard the population’s well-being.
The renovation and transformation of the hospital into a fully government-owned medical facility align with his campaign pledges.
Established in 1990, the pediatric hospital caters daily to over 5,000 patients from Kano State and its neighboring regions.
Governor Yusuf expressed disappointment over the previous administration’s actions, which had closed down the hospital and sold the premises to an individual who intended to convert it into a commercial space. He emphasized that the hospital now has cutting-edge medical equipment to deliver high-quality healthcare services to the public.
“We are committed to responsible governance that focuses on enhancing the overall well-being of our citizens, regardless of political affiliations,” the governor declared.
He also warned sternly against any misuse of authority by medical personnel assigned to manage the facility.
Health Commissioner Labaran Yusuf commended Governor Yusuf for his vision and dedication to restoring the hospital. Emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero also urged the public to utilize the hospital wisely, encouraging parents to ensure their children are properly immunized.
