In a tragic incident, the Ondo State Police Command apprehended a 45-year-old man, Bankole Oginni, on suspicion of murdering his 45-year-old girlfriend in Akure, the state capital.
According to reports, Oginni, who claimed to be a football coach, had invited the victim to his residence. However, her phone became unreachable after her visit, causing concern among her acquaintances.
A concerned individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, reported the incident to the B Division Police Station in the Oke-Aro area of Akure, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
When the authorities searched Oginni’s room, they made a gruesome discovery: the lifeless body of the deceased, with her legs and hands tied and her body dismembered. Additionally, her intestines had been removed, and there were visible signs of burns from what appeared to be hot water.
The Ondo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the details of the incident during a telephone conversation.
As the investigation continues, the suspect remains in custody while the victim’s body has been transferred to a nearby hospital’s morgue for further examination.
The authorities are diligently working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event and bring justice to the victim and her family.
