The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, engaged in a meeting with representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Joint Public Negotiation Council (JPNC) to ensure a peaceful nationwide protest scheduled for August 2, 2023, regarding the petrol price hike.
The gathering, held at the Bauchi State Police Command Headquarters, aimed to foster cooperation with union leaders for the well-being of the state and its citizens.
CP Auwal emphasized the importance of unity with the unions, prioritizing safety and maintaining peace during and after the planned protest.
He warned against any attempts by troublemakers to exploit the situation for violent purposes, assuring firm resistance against vandalism and extortion.
The union’s leadership pledged to work closely with the Bauchi State Police Command, focusing on information dissemination and internal checks to facilitate a smooth and successful protest.
They aim to ensure a trouble-free demonstration that upholds the citizens’ peace and safety.
