Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has immediately announced a 24-hour curfew in the region.
The declaration was made through a statement issued by Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary.
The decision to impose the curfew came in response to widespread looting and violent attacks perpetrated by hoodlums against innocent citizens in Yola.
According to the Governor, the situation has escalated dangerously, with hoodlums wielding machetes, vandalizing businesses, and ransacking homes, causing chaos and insecurity.
Under the curfew’s implementation, movement throughout the state will be restricted entirely, except for individuals on essential duties with valid identification.
Governor Fintiri urged law-abiding residents to strictly adhere to the directive, emphasizing that any order violation would result in arrest and prosecution.
