Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday swore in 16 newly-confirmed commissioners, a new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), a new Head of Service (HoS), 13 newly promoted Permanent Secretaries, and a new Accountant General.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office in Ibadan. In his remarks, Makinde expressed confidence in the ability of the new officials to bring their wealth of experience to bear on governance.
“I want you to know that we have a lot to do for our people,” Makinde said. “We already have a roadmap for sustainable development 2023-2027. Please key into it. These are very difficult times, and a lot will be required of us. Please, there should not be laxity. You have all taken the oath of office, and I expect you to deliver according to the oath you have just taken.”
The Pioneer Movement Iseyin, a group of Iseyin indigenes, congratulated the new SSG, Prof. Olanike Adeyemo. In a statement, the group’s President, Abimbola Ojedokun, said Adeyemo’s appointment was well-deserved and a recognition of Iseyin’s worth in the current dispensation in Oyo State.
The group described Adeyemo, who is a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, as an exemplary academic and Iseyin indigene.
The new officials are expected to hit the ground running and contribute to the development of Oyo State.
