The House of Representatives has officially begun its annual recess, adjourning plenary until September. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the formation of the House Standing Committees.
Mr. Abbas constituted a total of 134 committees for the 10th House. Ado Doguwa, the former Leader of the House, stepped down for Abbas and was appointed as the Chairman of the Committee on Petroleum (Upstream). Meanwhile, Ahmed Idris Wase, the former Deputy Speaker, is heading the Federal Character Committee.
Babajimi Benson once again retains the position of the Chairman of the Committee on Defence, while James Faleke remains in charge of the Finance Committee.
