Ndudi Elumelu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the winner of the 2023 House of Representatives election for Aniocha-Oshimili Federal Constituency by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba, Delta State.
The tribunal nullified the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of the election winner of Ngozi Okolie, the Labour Party (LP) candidate.
The tribunal’s decision was based on the finding that Okolie was not a valid member of the Labour Party at the time of their primary on May 28, 2022. Consequently, the tribunal ruled in favor of Ndudi Elumelu, who was the runner-up in the February 25, 2023, National Assembly election and is now declared the winner.
Elumelu, the Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives, had filed a petition requesting the tribunal to disqualify Okolie, initially declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
