Festus Fuanter has assumed the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) position, replacing Senator Iyiola Omisore. Meanwhile, the scheduled National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, initially planned for July 18 and 19, have been postponed.
Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Acting National Chairman, announced these updates after the Monday National Working Committee (NWC) meeting at the party secretariat.
Kyari informed journalists that Omisore and former National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu are no longer part of the APC leadership. Per the party’s constitution, Kyari now serves as the Acting National Chairman.
In Kyari’s statement, he said, “We are addressing the recent developments within the party. The NWC would like to inform you of the resignations of National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu and National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore. As the Deputy National Chairman (North), I will assume the Acting National Chairman role. Consequently, Festus Fuanter, the Deputy National Secretary, will now serve as the Acting National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress.”
He further explained that the proposed National Caucus and NEC meetings, initially scheduled for July 18 and 19, 2023, will be postponed. The NWC will announce a new date soon.
Kyari clarified that there are no allegations against Omisore and Adamu, who resigned voluntarily. Further details regarding their resignations will be disclosed at a later time.
He emphasized that each administration has its style, and the present NWC will abide by the party’s constitution.
