According to his spokesperson, Dele Alake, President Bola Tinubu has instructed security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the acts of violence and killings in Plateau State.
The President strongly condemned the recent spate of deadly clashes in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau and specific regions of Benue State.
Tinubu emphasized the urgent need to break the cycle of violence.
Regrettably, amidst this wave of violence, an innocent eight-month-old baby lost her life in the Farin Lamba community of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government. The President voiced his sorrow over the child’s tragic death in a conflict she did not know of, as stated in a press release by Alake on Tuesday.
One of the grave consequences of enduring conflicts is the tragic loss of innocent lives.
Developing vibrant, peaceful, and prosperous communities requires tolerance and forgiveness, even in the face of perceived wrongdoings.
The President called upon socio-religious leaders in the troubled areas and the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, and the Christian Association of Nigeria to collaborate in fostering genuine and enduring peace.
While reasserting his administration’s unwavering determination to eradicate violent crimes and all forms of criminality throughout Nigeria, the President has directed security agencies to uncover the masterminds behind these heinous acts and subject them to the full force of the law, the statement further explained.
Furthermore, he urged the governments of Plateau and Benue states, along with emergency response organizations, to provide immediate assistance and relief to the displaced victims of these conflicts.
