The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, has emphasized that the upcoming 2023 general elections represent a significant milestone in Nigeria’s democratic journey. He highlighted that this electoral process allows citizens from all corners of the country to exercise their constitutional right to vote and choose their leaders. Dr. Agboke made these remarks during Tuesday’s state-level post-election review meeting in Osogbo.
The REC of Osun acknowledged that the review meeting provides an open and constructive platform for discussions, aiming to analyze various aspects of the state-level election process. He stated that the meeting would delve into the intricacies of preparedness for the upcoming general elections, including voter registration, PVC collection, voter education, publicity, election day processes, procedures, security measures, and the overall efficiency of the electoral system.
Dr. Agboke expressed gratitude for the presence of INEC’s management staff, Electoral Officers, and their Assistants, emphasizing their dedication to upholding the principles of free, fair, and credible elections. He eagerly anticipated the insights and recommendations from meeting participants, believing that their expertise, experiences, and perspectives would collectively enhance the electoral process and strengthen democratic institutions.
