The dismissal of three senior Police officers has been approved by the Police Service Commission due to cases of misconduct and abuse of office, according to a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations.
Additionally, during the 21st Plenary Meeting held at the Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, the commission made several other decisions.
This meeting presided over by retired Justice Clara Bata Ogunbiyi, who represented the Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase CFR, included the reduction in rank of nine officers, including a Commissioner of Police.
Dr. Arase expressed appreciation for the disciplinary action, emphasizing that it aligns with his commitment not to hinder the career advancement of any officer.
Other outcomes of the meeting include:
- The compulsory retirement of an Assistant Commissioner.
- The refund of erroneously paid entitlements.
- The posthumous promotion of the late Inspector Ifeanyi Oroke for acts of bravery.
Furthermore, one dismissed Inspector, Augustina Oko, was reinstated retroactively, while 16 officers received a punishment of severe reprimand and another 18 received reprimands. Two other officers were issued letters of warning.
