Luis Castro, a compatriot of Cristiano Ronaldo, has been appointed as the new manager of Al-Nassr, as announced by the club.
The 61-year-old former Botafogo manager has taken over from Rudi Garcia, who was dismissed during the 2022-23 season. Dinko Jelicic, the Under-19 coach, took charge for the remainder of the season, but the team failed to win trophies.
Al-Nassr finished second in the Saudi Pro League and was eliminated from domestic cup competitions. The club could not secure any silverware despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s contribution of 14 goals and three assists in his first 19 games.
Fans are optimistic that Castro’s arrival, along with his partnership with Ronaldo, will change the team’s fortunes.
