Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has provided an explanation as to why President Bola Tinubu cannot investigate his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Primate Ayodele, probing Buhari’s administration would have a detrimental impact on Tinubu’s own government. This statement follows recent reports suggesting that Buhari advised Tinubu against investigating his former appointees.
However, Buhari’s former spokesman, Garba Shehu, refuted these claims, emphasizing that the former president never made such a plea.
However, Ayodele, in what he termed: “Warning to the Nations” on Saturday in Lagos, said: “This government will do better than Buhari’s administration, but what they need to do about the previous government they won’t be able to do it, because if they do, it will run down their government.
According to Ayodele, investigating Buhari’s government would be impossible for this current administration.

Additionally, Ayodele encouraged Tinubu to prioritize press freedom and freedom of speech during his tenure. He expressed concern that speaking out against the government could lead to persecution, emphasizing the importance of allowing open expression and media independence.
He said: “I’m not against Tinubu’s government; l love it, but at a time when you talk, they start pursuing you. They won’t allow freedom of speech when the time comes.
“I will advise this government to allow press freedom and freedom of speech.”
