In Ghana, Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian striker, has been honored with the prestigious Best African Player award, surpassing the achievements of Riyadh Mahrez, who won the treble, and Mohammed Salah.
Last season, the 24-year-old scored a remarkable total of 31 goals across various competitions, contributing to Napoli’s triumph in the Serie A, marking their first title win in over thirty years.
Osimhen’s exceptional performance as a professional athlete has not only garnered him numerous accolades but also allowed him to set new records.
His most recent recognition came from the Ghana Football Awards ceremony, where he thanked the organizers and pledged to bring glory to Africa.

The ex-Lille forward had an impressive performance in the previous season for Napoli, netting 31 goals in all competitions. His contributions played a crucial role in helping his team secure the title after a 33-year absence.
Furthermore, he made a significant impact while playing for the Eagles, scoring twice as they defeated Sierra Leone with a score of 3-2. This victory secured their qualification for the upcoming AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
His outstanding season also led to him being awarded the top scorer accolade, having scored 26 goals.
In addition, he surpassed the long-standing record of George Weah, the former World Player of the Year, to become the African player with the highest number of goals in Serie A history.
