Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North, expressed his sorrow at the passing of his close friend and business associate, Hamish Harding. Harding and four others tragically lost their lives during a submarine expedition to explore the remains of the Titanic ship.
Nwoko revealed that he had been invited to join the expedition and would have participated if not for his national responsibilities as a senator.
He recalled his previous adventurous experiences with Harding, including a trip to Antarctica in 2020 and the invitation to join a space shuttle journey.
Additionally, they collaborated on research projects to eradicate malaria in Africa, highlighting Harding’s dedication and support.
In his heartfelt message on his official Instagram account, Nwoko expressed his condolences to Harding’s wife and children, with whom they had formed a close bond over the years. He emphasized the loss of Harding’s wealth of experience and his adventurous spirit.
Nwoko mentioned that his recent induction as a senator prevented him from joining the ill-fated Titanic expedition, which sadly resulted in the loss of Harding’s life and the lives of the four others.
The tragic incident occurred when the small vessel transporting them to the historic Titanic wreckage site experienced a catastrophic implosion, as confirmed by the United States Coast Guard following an extensive search.
