During their visit to Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in Abuja, the duo expressed their dedication to working for the benefit of all Nigerians. The statement, released by Musa Krishi, the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, on Sunday in Abuja, emphasized their determination to ensure that the 10th Assembly operates in the nation’s best interest.
Abbas acknowledged the tremendous support he received from his colleagues, which he considers a significant responsibility to steer the lower legislative chamber towards realizing the aspirations of every citizen.
As a gesture of gratitude, the Speaker, accompanied by fellow House members, visited the first lady, expressing their profound appreciation for her unwavering support. They assured her that the Tinubu-led administration would receive their full backing.
“We decided to visit and express our gratitude. The 10th House will provide the necessary support for the success of the Tinubu-led administration,” stated the Speaker.
Highlighting that prominent figures such as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have emerged from the legislature, Abbas anticipated a smooth process in lawmaking under the current administration.
“Our President, Vice-President, First Lady, Chief of Staff to the President, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation were all members of the National Assembly.”
“This marks a historic moment for us,” remarked Abbas as he conveyed his appreciation for the support. “We sought your support and prayers, and today we stand victorious. We have achieved an unprecedented milestone through the collective efforts of Mr President, yourself, governors, and all other stakeholders. A total of 353 out of 359 votes were cast in my favour, a feat unparalleled in our history.”
