Reverend Father Jeremiah Yakubu, the Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Karku, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been released by his captors, according to the confirmation made by Father Emmanuel Okolo, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan.
The release of the kidnapped priest occurred on Monday evening. The details regarding the ransom payment, if any, have not been disclosed. Reverend Yakubu was abducted from the parish rectory in Kauru Local Government on Sunday night around 11 pm.
Kidnappings for ransom are unfortunately prevalent in Nigeria’s North-west and North-central regions, with Kaduna being severely affected. Both religious clerics and vulnerable individuals in communities have fallen victim to these kidnappers, resulting in tragic outcomes such as loss of life and release after ransom payment.
