Godwin Ogar, a member-elect of the House of Representatives from the Labour Party, expressed his surprise at the intelligence of President Bola Tinubu and his readiness to serve the Nigerian people.
Ogar, elected from the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State, made these remarks during an interview with journalists after the meeting between the National Assembly members-elect and Tinubu at the State House. The purpose of the meeting was to address the leadership crisis among the lawmakers.
Ogar exclaimed, “Today is a great day for me; I am filled with joy to be an elected member and to listen to my President. I never knew that this man was so intelligent. He is genuinely prepared to serve this country.
During our meeting, I witnessed his love, character, charisma, and belief that Nigeria can become a better nation. I am delighted that this meeting will contribute to a more stable House.”
The member-elect from the Labour Party emphasized that party affiliation was not his primary concern. Instead, he focused on the most crucial decision: the country’s growth. He stated, “At this moment, the party is not the issue; we are discussing the nation’s development.”
It should be noted that Ogar was officially declared the election winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission on February 25. He received 11,822 votes, while his closest opponent, Nkiru Onyejeocha of the All Progressives Congress, received 8,752 votes. Ogar’s victory marked the end of Onyejeocha’s 16-year tenure in the position.
