According to Bayo Onanuga, the Nigeria Labour Congress’ (NLC) planned demonstration is a plot by Peter Obi’s Labour Party to topple the Tinubu administration.
Mr. Onanuga accused NLC head Joe Ajaero of acting out the Labour Party’s plan to use protests to topple the Tinubu administration in a statement posted on his social media platforms.
“I just advise the intelligent workforce and the Nigerian people to avoid Ajaero and those of his calibre. He is acting out the opposition Labour Party’s plan to undermine the fledgling Tinubu administration while playing the political game, Mr. Onanuga wrote.
In reaction to the NLC’s planned demonstration over the increase in petrol pump prices, Mr. Onanuga made his remark.
The NLC made an announcement on Friday about its intention to “embark on a nationwide action and withdrawal of services, against the fraudulent increase in the price of fuel across the thirty-six states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the FCT.”
The phrase “subsidy is gone” was used by Mr. Tinubu in his inaugural address on May 29. His announcement caused fear throughout the nation as people rushed to acquire fuel and oil marketers abruptly raised pump prices.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) issued a pump price increase on May 31 that caused the price of fuel to surge nationally from N195 to N540.
