The 10th Ondo State House of Assembly was officially inaugurated on Saturday, with all 26 members taking the oath of office following Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s proclamation. Presided over by the Assembly’s Clerk, Taye Jaiyeola, Olamide Oladiji, a returning lawmaker representing Ondo East Constituency, was elected as the Speaker for a second term. Abayomi Akinruntan, a third-term lawmaker representing Ilaje Constituency 1, was chosen as the Deputy Speaker.

In his address to the House, the newly elected Speaker expressed the Assembly’s commitment to fulfilling its legislative responsibilities. Oladiji commended Governor Akeredolu for his effective leadership and pledged to foster a strong relationship between the legislative and executive branches.
“I’ve been a part of this system for a while, and I am aware that the legislature and the executive must get along well if we are to make any real progress in this state,” he said.
