A long-running disagreement with shipping businesses about the inadequate pay package and welfare of employees has prompted the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, or MWUN, to order workers to shut down all activities of shipping companies and to start an indefinite countrywide strike on Monday.
Prince Adewale Adeyanju, MWUN President-General, bemoaned that since 2018, Organised Labour has been fighting with shipping firms over the minimal requirement for shipping businesses regarding the wellbeing of employees, but to no avail.
