Prominent Osun State Traditional Ruler Urges President Tinubu to Collaborate with Traditional Institutions in Addressing Insecurity
In a statement to the press following the Congress of Oba-Ile descendants in Oba, Osun State, the Oloba of Oba-Ile, Oba Adekunle Oyeyemi, emphasized the importance of President Bola Tinubu partnering with traditional institutions to combat insecurity in the country.
Highlighting that every Nigerian is a member of a community led by a traditional ruler, the monarch stressed the need to involve traditional institutions in finding solutions to the nation’s security challenges.
The monarch also called on traditional rulers nationwide to support the current administration and urged President Tinubu to effectively assign constitutional roles to traditional rulers to address insecurity at the grassroots level.
The traditional ruler emphasized the significance of unity among traditional rulers in supporting the incoming administration, as the government’s success would benefit the entire nation, its people, and the traditional institution.
“We as traditional rulers must rally support for the incoming administration to succeed. If it does, the country will be better off for it, and there will be economic growth and development in all facets of the economy.
“Besides, the new government must, as a matter of priority, assign constitutional roles for traditional rulers to further enhance economic prosperity for the country.
“A system was in place before, where traditional rulers played constitutional roles; they liaise with the government to ensure peace and stability at the grassroots. It is not impossible to return constitutional role for monarchs in the country; it will enhance security of lives and property and ensure prosperity in the country”, he said.
He urged Oba-Ile descendants nationwide to work towards fostering unity within the tribe and contribute to the advancement and growth of their hometown.
