In Belarus, Russia has started to station tactical nuclear weapons. The autocratic president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, made this known on Thursday.
Vladimir Putin and Mr. Lukashenko met, and Mr. Lukashenko said that the amount of weapons and their storage places had been determined.
However, Mr. Lukashenko refused to provide any information, stating, “I will not talk about the number and the deployment.”
According to the president of Belarus, Vladimir Putin signed a decree and made certain choices. The weaponry will be stationed near Poland’s border, per prior reports.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, 106 Ukrainian servicemen were released as part of another prisoner swap with Russia.
In his nightly speech, Mr. Zelensky said, “It is very important that there was no information about many of these 106 people at all – they were considered missing.” But we discovered them. They were returned to us at home.
In the Bakhmut areas, the soldiers had been engaged in combat. Officers, soldiers, and sergeants were among them, Mr. Zelensky said.
Mykhailo Podoliak, a presidential adviser, had said that the much expected Ukrainian counteroffensive against Russian forces had begun.
He stated, “The counteroffensive has been ongoing for days,” in an interview with Italian television on Wednesday night.
Additionally, the advisor emphasized that Ukraine had no desire to invade Russian territory.
He continued, “We are using the weapons you gave us to destroy Russian positions in Moscow-occupied territories, including Donbas and Crimea,” addressing the Italian journalist.
