Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, was succeeded as the new president of the Conference of Speakers and Heads of African Parliaments by Alban Bagbin, Speaker of the Ghanaian Parliament.
Gbajabiamila stated in Abuja that parliaments had the authority to have an impact on national concerns as representatives and that their role was to seek out partnerships to solve problems and absorb ongoing best practices from one another.
In order to attain a shared awareness of how intricately intertwined we are all, he added, “We must utilize this power to preach the lessons of African brotherhood and change the worldview of our varied people.
“We will continue to collaborate through CoSAP, doing everything in our power to accomplish great things for our African homeland.”
Bagbin swore to give it his all and make sure the CoSAP’s goals were met.
