FIFA has constructed a mini-stadium in Birnin Kebbi, the capital city of Kebbi State, to develop football in the state. The $1.189 million project was implemented by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and supported by the FIFA Forward program.
According to Abubakar Ladan, the NFF representative in Kebbi State, the state has the largest number of amateur teams in the northwestern region. Still, it is being hindered by the lack of facilities.

He believes that the artificial pitch is a boost and a step in the right direction. The FIFA Forward program has provided funding of around $2 million for the construction of the mini-stadium in Kebbi State and a simple facility in Ugborodo, Delta State.
