FIFA has constructed a mini-stadium in Birnin Kebbi, the capital city of Kebbi State, to develop football in the state. The $1.189 million project was implemented by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and supported by the FIFA Forward program.

According to Abubakar Ladan, the NFF representative in Kebbi State, the state has the largest number of amateur teams in the northwestern region. Still, it is being hindered by the lack of facilities.
