Dr. Ayodele Joseph, the Chief Medical Director of Ayodele Hospital in Ilorin, has been accused of rape by a professional nurse who came for treatment at the hospital located in the Sawmill area.
On Thursday, the Magistrate Court in Ilorin remanded Dr. Joseph on two counts of act of gross indecency and rape, contrary to sections 285 and 283 of the penal code.
According to the police, the defendant sedated the patient and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The victim claimed that Dr. Joseph, who has 27 years of experience, took advantage of her while under sedation.

The prosecution counsel, Gbenga Ayeni, informed the court that the investigation led to the recovery of a video containing sexual acts on the patient. At the same time, medical tests confirmed that she was sexually assaulted.
Due to the gravity of the offense, Ayeni requested the remand of Dr. Joseph via a motion attached to the police report. The Magistrate, Gbadeyan Jumoke Kamson, granted the prosecutor’s prayer for Ayodele’s remand and adjourned the matter until May 18.
