A former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraud amounting to N22bn. Mamman was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with ongoing investigations into corruption in the execution of some power projects.
Sources claim that he conspired with a staff of the Ministry to divert the funds meant for the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects.

The EFCC has also uncovered properties in Nigeria and overseas linked to the suspects, and millions of naira and United States Dollars have been recovered. Mamman was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2019 but was dismissed in 2021.
