A call has been made by the Coalition for True Governance (CTG) for the impeachment of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma due to the frequent killings occurring in the state.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Convener, Charles Odenigbo, he charged the Imo House of Assembly with initiating impeachment proceedings against the Governor for his alleged failure to take action and provide leadership in addressing the pressing issues.
Odenigbo further stated that the loss of innocent lives on a regular basis, coupled with the forced demand by workers for better pay and working conditions, is unacceptable.
The recent killing of five policemen and a couple in the Ngor-Okpala area of Imo State is a cause for concern. The group finds it disheartening that Imo State is often in the news due to the rise in violent crimes such as kidnappings and murders.

The ongoing workers’ strike has significantly disrupted public services, particularly healthcare and education, which have been severely affected.
Odenigbo criticized Uzodinma for his inability to address workers’ concerns and for failing to engage in meaningful dialogue. CTG urged the lawmakers in the state to consider impeachment proceedings against the Governor if he continues to neglect his duties and responsibilities to the people of Imo State.
CTG has also appealed to security agencies to investigate the growing insecurity, particularly in light of the ongoing workers’ strike.
